Robert Smith
is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Monroe County Bar
Association, and the American Bar Association, Section of Business Law. He
is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Eastern
District of Michigan. Prior to
joining Pentiuk, Couvreur & Kobiljak, Mr. Smith clerked for the
Honorable Joseph A. Costello, Jr., of the 38th Circuit Court in
Monroe, Michigan. He then
participated as a prosecutor intern with the Monroe County Prosecutor’s
Office. Mr. Smith
attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn, graduating from the School
of Management with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, as a
Finance major. He then
attended the University of Toledo College of Law and received his Juris
Doctor in 2006. During his
study at UT, he was involved with numerous law school activities,
including the Criminal Law Moot Court team.
He also was a Finalist in the annual Charles W. Fornoff appellate
oral-advocacy competition. Mr. Smith is actively involved in the Trinity Church of God, located in Carleton, Michigan. He teaches once a month, and is the head of the men’s fellowship group. He is married to Janice, who is a Registered Nurse in Ann Arbor. They have two children, Kyle and Michael.
